Look at these.
Wow. I just had an amazingly productive/informing/inspirational/eye-opening/creative/brilliant couple of days in Brighton with my good friend Sherman. A lot of time was spent talking about the state of photography, particularly photography that is sociological  in  nature. I also taught Sherman how to shoot on 5x4. Here are some of (but not all of) the books we looked at, a few I had seen...

Reciprocity Failure and The Police.
I’ve been testing out some long exposures with Illford Delta 100 black & white film, for a project I am going to start shooting in Gothenburg in a few weeks, and the photograph above is one example (© Thom Bridge 2010). I find it interesting that the day after the organised protest in London against the terrorist laws and how they are used on Photographers, that I am stopped and...

Morfar och Homeland.
I was talking to Natasha Caruana today about my new (and probably very long running) photo project ‘Mother’s Tongue’ which explores my Swedish heritage and in particular a village in Stockholm’s archipelago which Bonzo and I have visited for almost every summer of our lives. Natasha then told me about the work of a fellow RCA graduate, Nina Mangalanayagam. Nina’s...

Öresundsbron.
It’s funny how travel works out sometimes, it’s going to be cheaper to fly to Copenhagen and then get a train to Gothenburg than flying direct. But it does mean that I get to cross The Sound over the Öresundsbron. The last time I did the same journey I was aged small and we stopped off at Billund to go to Legoland. We then took the ferry between Denmark and Sweden and had Danish...

Suprises
I’m given it some time to make sure I don’t miss anything (its pretty hard work narrowing it down to just five) but here are my five favorite albums by Artists who were nowhere to be seen in my last.fm charts this time last year. Fever Ray - Live in Luleå The xx -The xx Passion Pit - Manners Jónsi & Alex - Riceboy Sleeps Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse - Dark Night...

New work.
There’s a show of new work by William Eggelston at the Victoria Miro Gallery in London that Bonzo and I went to see on Friday. It’s always lovely to see his work but our friend made a very interesting point: the Landscape photographs were better… The one exception was the photograph above. I also went to London Art Fair which, unfortunately, was as disappointing as last year....

Colouring of Pigeons.
Everyone is blogging about the free download from www.theknife.net of ‘Colouring of Pigeons’ from their Darwin Opera ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’ but just in case you haven’t heard it, please go and have a listen. Very much like The Knife and not at the same time, very nice.

Happy New.
Hello there, did you have a good New Year/Christmas time? Well things have been a bit busy with us so hopefully we’ll be back for good now. I’ve been in Scotland with around 5 feet of snow, with only dial up Internet and no phone signal. It’s nice to reenter civilisation! Anyway. Whilst I was in Scotland and I went to Edinburgh and went to the Queen’s Gallery which ...
